International Family Night – IndiaPosted 01/28/2016 06:12AMThe School welcomed students and families to the campus last week to celebrate the culture and arts of India. Student exhibits included Indian quilts, the Festival of Lights, and the history of henna tattoos.
Guest speaker, Priya Chellani, shared information about her home country and the history of several Indian folk dances. Performers from the Indigo Dance Academy regaled the audience with their elaborate costumes and traditional Indian dances. The enthusiastic elementary students were eager to get in on the fun and joined the Indigo dancers onstage to learn the “Dandia”, a dance often performed at village festivals and modern day folk celebrations.
Kids enjoyed the offering tremendously, clapping along to the peppy folk beats as well! They were thrilled when offered a chance to learn the steps later!
