Our team of INDIGO LADIES “Bollywood Bevy” cast a spell on the diverse international audience and celebrity judges. Our ‘Moods of Bollywood’ entry at the Raleigh Convention Center, downtown Raleigh, as part of the International Dance Competition Raleigh Festival earned us a solid score of 25 points on 30 ( taking us to the highest score in the Runners-Up, and the highest in the Bollywood sub-category !)
Judges’ Comments : “Phenomenal colored costumes, superb co-ordinated Bollywood-style hairdos, great attention to detail, excellent synchronicity, great energy, very enjoyable to watch, great choreography that portrayed the story well; and best of all: loved the finishing touches like the red-dye (“alta”) that brought so much extra attention to your hands & feet! Excellent, we have to give you a very good score! “And the score ? : 9 + 8 +8 , taking us to the top most score of Bollywood category and highest in the Runners-up in Raleigh-Durham-Cary region!
The competition was tough with our performers competing against 11 other international dance teams, amongst which were some very adept, almost professional international dance genre teams, such as the well-timed Irish tap dancers, fluid & flexible Chinese performers, graceful-sassy belly dancers, rambunctious Mexican Folklore professional team (who also were the ultimate winners that day). Amidst all this stiff competition, our ladies in stark comparison who had started learning with us but a few weeks ago, stood in their own light, and gave it their all!
We’re very proud of our students Tangela, Usha, Priyanka, Mamta, Belinda, Melizabeth & Sindhu for taking this immense challenge and bravely getting on that stage with determination, dedication and sincere efforts, all under the vision and expertise of Priya, who choreographed the dance, co-ordinated the clothing, hair, accessories and final touches, all this finally winning the hearts of the qualified international panel of dance judges from WRAL TV, WNCN, Arthur Murray Studios, …and wowing the awesome international audience!
