Throngs of people clapped, cheered and danced along with abandon at the INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL as INDIGO DANCE ACADEMY took over the VARIETY STAGE to entertain with their usual joy and energy in a series of BOLLYWOOD DANCES AND FITNESS ROUTINES!
INDIGO had a HOUR LONG SPECIAL ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. Kids, youth , teen and adults – they all jumped up on to the stage to join the lively dancers on stage, enjoying a string of hot -off -the-charts Bollywood songs of 2015.
Working out to seriously fun, entertaining and expressive Bollywood routines prompted by the usual gusto of VETERAN CHOREOGRAPHER PRIYA CHELLANI who was in her element onstage – in both leading the crowd and hosting the grand hour, men, women, children, seniors, were seen boogieing away to the uptempo music!
In between joshing with the audience and getting them up to dance, Priya had a whole lineup of students to lead the FITNESS Special on Saturday and several scintillating songs at the BOLLYWOOD PERFORMANCE SHOWCASE on SUNDAY- the last day of the Festival where her talented students of many ages, 4- 74 years, performed to a packed audience.
Among the styles were : Bolly- Raas, Bolly- Item, Bolly-Bhangra, Bolly-Trad., and the newest addition : Lyrical Bolly-Hop.
Each item had its own flavour but the special ones that got everyone to boogie on stage were crowd shakers like “Gallan Goodiyan” (“hello song”) from DIl Dhadakne Do (2015)
The surprise winner however, was “Mari Galli” where Indigo’s tiniest dancers danced with their rustic colorful outfits and sticks!
All the children received gold-emblemed special certificates from the Raleigh Festival organizers which was a very generous touch by them. In addition, children received trophies from Priya Chellani.
